Support for children affected by the AIDS virus

Since 1996, working alongside the French charitable organisation "Dessine-moi un mouton" ("Draw me a sheep"), Children Action has funded holidays with medical care for children infected with AIDS, or whose parents suffer from the virus. During these holidays by the sea or in the mountains, activities are adapted to the children's pace and daily routine. Great care is taken to ensure that all medicines is taken correctly, and the health of each child is carefully monitored.

A work based on continuity

Since January 2006, Children Action finances a psychologist who is present during the holidays and then follows the children all the year long. This continuity in the relationship enables the establishment of a bond of trust which enhances considerably the results of the work done with the children, particularly regarding their acceptance of the disease and the observance of the treatment.

Since 2010, in order to provide continuity, the Foundation finances some workshops (books, career, theatre) for HIV children who become adolescents. Those meetings facilitate an open dialogue with these teenagers facing difficulties and questions at this pivotal moment of their life.

Cost

Cost for the psychological support:  CHF 63'000 (48'000 €)
